About the Founder

Banshidhar BeheraMr. Banshidhar Behera, has been a social activist for more than two decades .He is the Founder and Secretary Of AJSA (Anchalika Jana Seva Anusthan), He has worked in Oxfam India and played a key role in various developmental activities in western Orissa during the drought period During 90s.Associated and jointly worked with many NGOs and INGOs.

He provided the initial leadership of the ‘Utkala Sarbodya Mandal’ and Jointly worked with Legendry Freedom Fighters (Manmaohan Cahudhry,Sabitri Chaudhry,Annapurna Maharana, Alekh Patra,Bhagbat Prasad Ratha) in “Swadinata Banchao Andolan “movement in 1990,at State and National level. He was part of the “Paribesh Surakhya Abhiyan” a state level campaign on Natural resource management in 1983.

His leadership and dedication toward rural communities has been widely recognised both by the State Government of Orissa, His innovative approaches on Food security and Community Forestry, has been praised by Planning Commison of India,Media and Civil society. He was the key contributor in the UN Summits on (COP-11) and (COP-MOP-6) Conference.Being a development professional he is the active member of many national and international organisations and networks. He has written over hundreds of articles, features on sufferings people and on socioeconomic political and developmental issues concerning odisha. He is the author of “Prakuritira Baradan”,”Go Sampada o Chikishya” and “Janiba Jaruri(Necessary To Know)” was widely acclaimed. He has travelled across the length and breadth of the country to know the minds of people. He is the Founder and convener of Western Orissa Voluntary Association (WOVA),a network of 58 small Grass root level NGO’s and CBO’s of western orissa in India. Founder and Chairperson of the Mother India Tribals Association (MITA) a grass root organization, formed by tribal communities, based in Ganjam District Odisha in India.
